Write to us

Email hello@climbascent.app with anything: a question, a bug, a gym whose grades Ascent should know, or a privacy request. It reaches Sean and Ivan, who make Ascent. A screenshot and your iOS version help with bugs.

Ascent has no account, so we can't see your log or look you up. Tell us what you see on your iPhone, and never send your backup file unless we ask for it to fix a problem.

Back up your log and move to a new iPhone

Your climbing log stays on your iPhone, and Ascent keeps no copy on a server. Your iPhone's own backup restores most of it, but Body data (injuries, pain, rehab and load rules) is kept out of iCloud and computer backups, so Export backup is the one way to keep everything.

  1. Open Settings in Ascent and tap Export backup.
  2. Save the file somewhere you trust: Files, iCloud Drive, your computer or an email to yourself.
  3. On the new iPhone, install Ascent, open Settings, tap Import backup and pick the file. It replaces the log on that iPhone, so export first if it already holds climbs you want to keep.

Clear everything in Settings deletes your whole log from the iPhone (sessions, climbs, plan, comps, off-wall training, Body data, About you, your gyms and boards) and your Coach history, and can't be undone. Export a backup first.

Data

  • Export backup
  • Import backup

Stored only on this iPhone. Body data stays out of iCloud Backup, so export a backup before moving to a new iPhone or deleting the app.

Clear everything

Deletes everything on this iPhone: sessions, climbs, plan, Body entries, gyms, boards and Coach history.

Clear everything?

Deletes 212 climbs, 41 sessions, your plan, comps, Body entries, load rules, gyms, boards and Coach history. Set up again to pick your gyms, goals and target from the start. This can't be undone.

Restore purchases

Ascent Pro is sold through the App Store, so it belongs to your Apple Account, not to an Ascent account. On a new iPhone, or after reinstalling, open Settings › Ascent Pro and tap Restore purchases while signed in to the same Apple Account. The Ascent Pro screen has the same button.

Manage or cancel Ascent Pro

Apple handles every subscription, so changes and cancellations happen in your Apple Account:

To end the yearly plan's free trial without paying, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. When you cancel, the Coach stays on until the end of the period you paid for; everything else in Ascent is free and keeps working. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

The Coach

The Coach is part of Ascent Pro and is for climbers 18 and over. Every iPhone gets one Coach read and one Coach review free, with no purchase. If a reply looks wrong, tap Report a reply in the chat: it opens an email to us that you choose to send. Settings › Ascent Pro has Delete Coach history and Withdraw consent.

Ascent isn't medical advice. Stop and see a physio if something hurts.

Consent

  • Withdraw consent

Withdrawing stops the Coach sending anything. Your chats stay on this iPhone.
