The waitlist
When you join, we keep the email address you typed, the country you picked, the gym you typed (if any), the time you signed up and, once you confirm, the time you confirmed. They sit in one table on Cloudflare, which hosts this site. Until you confirm, we also keep a scrambled copy of your confirmation link, so we can check it when you tap it.
We send two kinds of email: a link to confirm your address when you join (again only if you join again), and one email when Ascent is ready to install. Both are sent through Resend. When you confirm, your address (and only your address) is added to our list on Resend, which sends the launch email and handles its unsubscribe link. If you never confirm, we never write again. We don't share your address, sell it or add it to anything else. The country and gym only tell us which walls and grading scales to test on first.
To have your entry deleted from both, write to hello@climbascent.app or reply to either email, and we'll remove it.
The app
Ascent has no account, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your climbing log is one file on your iPhone, shared only with Ascent's own widgets. Everything free in Ascent works without sending anything anywhere.
When you ask the Coach out loud, your iPhone turns your voice into text itself; the audio never leaves it. Read aloud uses your iPhone's built-in voice, and Face ID only tells Ascent whether the check passed.
The Coach
The Coach is part of Ascent Pro. Its AI model runs on Google's Vertex AI, reached through OpenRouter. Nothing is sent until you agree on the Coach's consent screen. Then each request sends a summary of your training (Load, grades, style send rates, session summaries, competitions, season and plan) and your chat messages to OpenRouter, which passes them to Google. It never sends your raw log: no notes, photos or single climbs. Injuries, pain and rehab are sent only if you turn on Send Body data, which is off by default.
No name, email, Apple ID or device ID of yours goes to OpenRouter or Google. Each request asks for zero data retention, so neither keeps it, and neither trains on it (OpenRouter's zero data retention).
Your chats, Coach reviews and reads stay on your iPhone. Settings › Ascent Pro › Delete Coach history deletes them, and you can withdraw consent there at any time.
Ascent's server
Coach requests pass through a small Ascent server on Cloudflare, which checks that they come from a genuine copy of Ascent with an active subscription, applies the Coach's limits and forwards them to OpenRouter. It never stores or logs your training summary, Body data, messages or replies.
It keeps only security and usage records: one-time challenges (deleted after 5 minutes), an Apple App Attest key per install (deleted 180 days after last use), which installs use each subscription (removed after 30 days unused), the current limit counts, keyed by the number Apple gives your subscription, and which sessions already had a Coach read (180 days). None of it says who you are.
Purchases
Ascent Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment; Ascent never sees your name, Apple ID or card.
